EDUCATION: Seminars on Sustainability (SOS) kicked off in March at GLBC's showroom with two timely topics on  Living Building Challenge and Mythic Paint. Upcoming seminars include:

NEWS:

New York City Green Building Center Launches, located in the heart of midtown Manhattan in the Penthouse at 36 West 37th Street, GLBC partners have taken the integrated collaborative to the big City. Our new space includes a 50 person education training center, 300sf product showroom, and our collaborative office space. Our center is now open to the public 9am to 5pm M-F on a regular basis. Our sister website www.greenbuildingcenter.com is also live with the lates educational events, information on our collaborative members, and NYC focused projects and opportunities. The official Grand Opening reception will be the end of April. Stay tuned for more information and please feel free to visit us in NYC.

GLBC welcomes several new artists, including Trina Paulus, Montclair NJ resident and author of 'Hope for the Flowers' and nativity scene sculptor, Lauren Rosenthal, Lambertville local and creator of intricate papercuts of our local rivers and their tributaries, and Cathy Begg, also a Lambertville local who sculpts sawdust into organic gilded relief panels. Somerville NJ pottery artists Susan Amann, Lambertville local unique furniture creator Adam Capone and Doylestown PA local artist Armour Keller return to GLBC with new works as well for the new year!

GLBC Co-Founder, Jason Kliwinski, AIA, LEEDap BD&C/O&M named LEED Fellow at 2012 Greenbuild in San Francisco: LEED Fellows are vanguards in the field whose vision and leadership have influenced the transformation of the built environment through green design and practice. LEED Fellows are a highly accomplished class of individuals nominated by their peers and distinguished by the caliber of their contributions to advancing the field of green building through their technical expertise, advocacy and education efforts, leadership, and commitment to the community.

How can you achieve net zero energy? Reduce demand, increase efficiency, offset the rest with renewable energy sources onsite. Easier said than done, I know but it is achievable within a reasonable budget today.

Carbon Neutrality: State Legislature considers bill to re-enter Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a ten state collaborative committed to reducing emissions. New Jersey was a part of this effort as a founding member until Christie abruptly and ill advisedly pulled the State out, reversing a prior exectuve order from Governor Corzine.

Local & Organic: Join a CSA today. The GLBC family will be planting its organic garden for the season next spring. The Stockton Farmer's market continues to expand and offer year round fresh, local and organic produce, meats, fish, and baked goodies as well.

The Center is now open weekly Wednesday through Sunday. You can host your own green workshop at the Center or sign up under our Education tab. Education is a fundamental part or our holistic approach in creating a "Culture of Sustainability"!
